Brief Thoughts on Limbus Company Canto VII
October 26, 2024
Finished Canto VII a few days ago. Been kind of wracking my brain at how to go about making this post since I'm good at putting my thoughts out into words. I think I'm going to just give a cliff notes summary of what I think for now.
Ultimately, I really liked this Canto. I thought I wouldn't be that big on it (I didn't like Don at the time and Canto VI wasn't bad but it missed some of what made the others more interesting for me) and only went in intrigued by the whole vampire carnival aesthetic. Thankfully, I was wrong and this is easily a contender for my new favorite so far.
I found myself liking Don a lot more after learning about her backstory and how she decides to move forward at the end. Also, Sinclair's character development and Hong Lu finally getting some more screentime proper with the tease of what we might expect in his Canto. I enjoyed the NPCs a lot as well. Especially Sanson in the early parts.
Presentation was great. They keep outdoing themselves with each new Canto. Music was fantastic as usual. The Mili song took a bit to grow on me but it's a top 3 for me. The fights were fun... mostly. (I didn't like the final boss but that's all I'll say.) All in all: as a great man once said, "Dreams don't die."
